About Us
With an honorable discharge from the U.S. Army and an eighteen-month engagement to a nice Jersey girl and best friend, Jack and Pat were married on his second day as a civilian. They raised three beautiful daughters.
Through sheer luck, Jack discovered the Veteran Business Owners Initiative (VBOI). They offer a free eighteen-week training course on all the aspects of starting, owning, and operating your own business. In addition to the training, the VBOI also offers an empowerment bank and a support group which is called the Veteran Business Owners Association (VBOA). The VBOA support group meets twice a month. Jack holds the longest active VBOA membership.
So, through the Veteran Business Owners Initiative, Business Network International, and mentors, the business became operational in 2005.
The business model back then was to attract many small businesses by offering services with a low profit margin. Joining the Business Network International (BNI) organization was viewed as a path to higher volume.
The BNI was a good decision. It gave Jack the opportunity to learn how to network, to perfect his elevator speech, and to grow his business to over one hundred customers. However, the new customer growth rate slowed significantly after about the fourth year.
A different market was also emerging. Hardware was beginning to outlast software. A different marketing plan was needed. The business model had to transition from break/fix to managed services.
To meet the needs of the new marketplace, Jack reviewed and adjusted the vendor mix, changing antivirus and backup vendors. Neither were able to meet his expectations.
For example, if a computer becomes infected enough for the customer to see it, the prevention efforts and the antivirus are not working. Today, our mature vendor mix works flawlessly and has done so for more than ten years. With healthy machines, restores perform as expected too.
